And So it Begins

Karina grinned as she entered Pastoria City and surveyed her surroundings. People bustled around quickly and readied themselves for what was to come. That was the reason she was here, a contest was being held in this city and she was here to win the ribbon. As she entered the building to register she seen that there was quite a turn out. 'Good we will have plenty of competition,' she mused smiling. She was here to win but also to have fun and that was precisely what she planned to do.

After she was registered she went to the waiting area that the contestants were asked to wait in. She waited and waited for what seemed like forever and finally her name was called. As she appeared on staged dressed in a red formal looking gown to match her hair. She then called on her pokemon to come out, "Froslass take the stage." As Froslass burst from her pokeball shimmering snow flakes fell from around her.

"Now Froslass, use Powder Snow and then use Psychic to move it around you," Karina called to her Froslass. She watched as her pokemon summoned for an icy gale and then used it to wrap around her body creating a beautiful shimmering cloud around her. "Now force the wind into a ball," she commanded to the ice-ghost pokemon. Froslass brought the icy wind into a condensed ball, all the viewers watched as the ball flowed and writhed. "Finish this, now burst the ball," Karina said waving her hand in a graceful fashion. The ball of icy air suddenly burst and caused shimmering ice crystals to rain down around Froslass. Now all that remained was to hear the judges announce the winners of the primaries.

The judges looked to Karina and started to speak,
"That was amazing"
said Nurse Joy
"Truly Remarkable"
stated Mr Sukizo,
"A show of grace which will be difficult to match"
announced Mr Contesta, smiling at her, MC Marian speaking loud and clear
"Wow, it's a full set of congratulations from the judges so, please return to the waiting room and wait whilst we determine the contestants that will progress, through to the next round"
moving swiftly over to the judges and discussing the contestants, allowing Karina time to leave the stage.

Karina smiled as she and Foslass exited the stage having an extra bounce in their step. As they entered back stage she immediately began devising a strategy to use her other pokemon. This next part was the hardest, deciding which pokemon to use in the next part of the contest. Either one of her pokemon would do well but which to choose...Milotic that is who she would choose. Now all she had to do was wait on her name to be called over the loud speaker. 'This will be my first contest win if I can just pull off the battles.' She mused to herself.

Then she heard it her name on the speaker, it was time. She entered the stage looking very determined but underneath she was a bit nervous. She took her pokeball out and threw it in the air. "Now Milotic, take the stage," she said loudly as she waited for her pokemon to come out. Then Milotic burst forth in a showering of glittering raindrops. Now she only had to wait for her competition to get to the stage.

The judges had also called out the names of three others,
Harry,
Maria,
Karina,
Liam.
They then announced the match-ups,
Liam vs Karina
Harry vs Maria.
When Karina went out onto the stage, she was followed by her opponent: Liam. Who charged out launching the pokeball high into the air.
"Charge forth, Croagunk!"
his Croagunk (Male - lvl 20) emerging from it's pokeball punching the lighting bolts from the seal aside and landing on the stage. MC Marian then said
"Right the clock is ready so, battle begin!"
the clock starting and Liam kicking into action,
"Go Croagunk and use Poison-Slap!"
Croagunk digging up ball of dirt from the ground and launching them at Milotic, then opening his mouth and unleashing a Poison Sting attack on them to boost both, the move's power and the move's speed, as well as giving it the ability to poison Milotic, with a purple glow being emitted.

Karina grinned as the Croagunk charged at Milotic and hit her with the poison attack. Little did he know this was what Karina was counting on. As soon as the poison hit Milotic she heard the audience start to murmur, questioning why she had not ordered Milotic to dodge the attack. The reason was now revealed as Milotic began to glow in a multicolor sheen, the reason she did not dodge was because of Milotic's ability Marvel Scale. This ability raises Milotic's defense when inflicted with a status condition.

Karina was ready to catch her opponents off guard and commanded Milotic, "Now use Haze and then lets hit them with an Ice Beam." Milotic followed the orders perfectly emitting an eerie purple smoke-like substance blinding the field. She then proceeded to shoot a blue ray of ice at Croagunk.

Liam reacted to this easily
"Now Croagunk back flip, dodge it and use Poison Sting!"
Croagunk flipping backwards over the Ice Beam attack using Poison Sting as well the ominous purple glow spinning like a Catherine Wheel around it, Croagunk then punching each of them at Milotic to do some more damage.

Karina paled a bit after the Croagunk dodged her Ice Beam, but the situation could still be salvaged. She watched the foes pokemon shoot another array of poison attacks and she gave the order, "Now Milotic dodge it and then use Ice Beam on the field." She watched as the Milotic followed her orders flawlessly, her aim was that the Croagunk would come down form the attack and hit the ice on the field and slip.

(Not planning on making this easy for you two :D lol)

Croagunk instead landed on the ice carefully and started Ice Skating to show off to the audience, Liam grinned
"Now Mud Slap on Milotic go!"
using Mud Slap he span on the ice, pirouetting for the audience and gathering the Mud combined with the ice from Milotic's attack in his two hands throwing them at Milotic with great accuracy, then ice skating some more to continue his show for them.

Karina smiled when the Croagunk started to ice skate on the field. Then even when the foes pokemon sent out a barrage of Mud Slap, she did not loose her smile. She looked to Milotic and asked her a non-verbal question, when the pokemon nodded she stood a little taller. "Alright lets do this, Milotic now use Twister!" She shouted to the pokemon. Milotic immediately began to swirl her beautiful tail creating a magnificent tunnel of gale-force winds. She then hurtled the winds directly at the Croagunk.

Croagunk used a barrage of Poison Sting attacks on the Twister. The Poison needles gathering in the Twister and causing it to become fully purple and glowing with a beautiful color. More points being stolen from Karina who was now with only one quarter of them left, Liam having all of his points still there.

Karina only grinned, for this could be turned to her advantage. She then looked at Milotic and gave a complex order, "Now Milotic, use Haze on the Twister and then Freeze it with an Ice Beam." Milotic exhaled Haze at the Twister which sucked it up greedily and then with the Twister a deep purple she froze the Twister. The Twister was then nothing but a tall beautiful tower of glittering ice that threw of rainbows into the crowd due to the light.

Croagunk circled the tower slowly skating up it before leaping from the top and using another Poison Sting directly on Milotic.

Karina only shook her head at this. The Poison Sting hit Milotic and poisoned her, but this was unfortunately for her opponent no time to celebrate. The poisoning enacted Milotic's ability and increased her defense. "Now Milotic use Refresh and then hit that Croagunk out of the sky with a Ice Beam." She commanded her pokemon. Milotic became enveloped in a blinding radiant light from the Refresh, she then looked up and shot an Ice Beam at her opponent.

Croagunk then unleashed a Focus Blast attack (TM) on the Ice Beam, the sphere smashing it's way through, on course to Milotic, freezing as it went along. Croagunk then bursting it with Poison Sting and using a Poison Sphere on Milotic. First using Aura Sphere then Poison Sting on it to infuse it with poisonous energy.

Karina couldn't afford to loose any more points and she knew that this had to end pretty quick. She thought for a moment and then did something that she had only thought about using. "Now Milotic listen closely, first use Water Pulse and knock that sphere away. Then use Twister and infuse it with a Water Gun. Now send it toward Croagunk." She told Milotic carefully. Now if Croagunk gets caught the Twister then she could execute the next part of her plan.

Croagunk side-rolled smirking as it used yet another Focus Blast on Milotic.

As the Croagunk's attack made contact Karina grimaced. She was so close and yet so far, she had almost given up hope. The next move would have to be a last ditch effort to turn the match around. "Now Milotic use Haze and then hit that Croagunk hard with a Water Pulse attack." She told Milotic watching the pokemon carefully. Milotic covered the field in another Haze and then shot off a ball of water directly at Croagunk.

Croagunk watched for the light given off by Water Pulse, but at the moment he saw it he was hit, flying backwards across the ice and landing at Liam's feet, Liam helping him up and calling out
"Quickly their gonna overtake us, now use another Focus Blast!"
Croagunk immediately thrusting his arms forwards and unleashing another sphere of powerful energy on Milotic.

Karina was ready to wrap this thing up, she had not come all the way to the final round to be shot down. She looked at Milotic and knew that she was tired. After being hit with a pretty powerful Focus Blast she couldn't take much more. "Alright girls lets finish this, use Twister and then add a Water Gun to it!" She shouted at her pokemon in determination. Milotic nodded and started to twist her tail faster and faster. Soon an enormous Twister was swirling in the arena, Milotic then added a powerful Water Gun to it.

Croagunk was then froze in place as, he watched the Twister attack head straight for him, quaking with fear. The attack then hit Croagunk and sent him flying all the way across the arena landing in a self-made crater in the wall. The clock sounding and signaling the end of the match and... Karina was the winner! by an extremely thin margin, Karina was through to the finals against the winner of the other match who happened to be, Maria!

The judges and MC letting them leave the stage so, that Karina could get ready for the final round.

Karina was super excited that she had made it to the finals. She began devising strategies as she walked to the back. She waited for what seemed to be an eternity for the MC to call her name to return to the stage. When she arrived she called forth the pokemon that she would be using for the battle, "Froslass take the stage!"

Maria grinned from behind the scenes as she heard her name, charging out and projecting her voice throughout the contest hall
"Let's put on a show Aron!"
her Aron (Female - lvl 16) emerging from it's pokeball and spinning through the seal's petals landing on the stage. Maria then hearing the clock start, she announced her first technique
"Metal Head!" (Metal Claw + Iron Head (Egg Move))
Aron charging at Froslass and attempting to clamp down on it with it's claws before thrusting it's head at Froslass' chest.

Karina only smiled at this she knew there was a way to avoid this. "Double team Froslass." She said calmly and then began thinking of an offensive strategy. "Froslass, use Hex on Aron." She commanded. As Froslass dodged the attack and then created a powerful blob of ghostly energy and sent it toward the Aron.

Maria then beckoned over to Aron
"spin and send it back with Iron Head"
Aron charging before leaping into the air and spinning as he used Iron Head on the blob of energy sending it straight back at Froslass.

Karina thought quickly and then came up with a plan to lower the other teams points quickly. "Froslass, use Psychic to hold Aron in the air and then use Powder Snow." She told her pokemon. Froslass set to work using Psychic to stop the incoming attack, watching as the Aron was suspended in the air. She then summoned a large amount of beautiful snow and forced it directly at Aron. The quicker we can finish this the better. Karina thought to herself as she watched Froslass closely.
