Chapter 5 of The Grand Adventure: Second Gyms and First Contests (OPEN)

She watched as the pokemon would recover from the ember. He knew it would take a bit more to take down the chimchar before she would be able to have it defeated. She watched as the pokemon got back up and began to send a load of embers toward her pokemon. This wasn't something that would be able to be dodged but she could still try. ''Quick turtwig try to dodge it'' She said as her pokemon jumped from place to place trying to dodge at least a bit and reduce the damage it would take from the ember that was now raining from the sky. Of course a lot of the embers hit and the pokemon was beginning to get tired. They needed to regain some life if they wanted to at least have another shot at defeating his chimchar. ''Turtwig use absorb'' She ordered as her pokemon ran towards the flame ape pokemon to try and take it down.

(btw if you watched the anime turtwig is quick)

As Hanu kept falling towards the turtwig and was hit the absorb as it landed, Hanu smirked as it got slowly stood up straight and glanced at his trainer. Case smiled and nodded not saying anything. Hanu smirked and dashed forwards to gym leader's turtwig headstrong creating another of could of embers, which he ran through the flames reaching the tiny turtle at the same time as the flames and began to swipe furiously (Fury Swipe) at the turtle.

The barrage of swipes and fire proved too much for the Tiny leaf pokemon, and it finally succumbed. "Hmm. Impressive. Let's see how you handle my Cherrim, then?" She called out, as she flung the sphere onto the battle arena. A Cherrim appeared in an explosion of red and white. The curled up flower stood as tall as the Chimchar it faced, and seemed shy even, recognizing the danger and difficulty it was in. It was a poor matchup.

But it lost none of it's fighting spirit. Outspeeding it's opponent, it flung several small seeds on Chimchar which would slowly sap it's energy. Leech Seed. Then it swiftly set up a powerful Magical Leaf. These Special attack leaves could not miss, and Chimchar, as a whole species, didn't have great Special Attack. Even with the type disadvantage, it was bound to hurt.

Hanu's face in utter shock when the gym leader's Cherrim out sped him and unleashed a barrage of magical leaves along with having its health slowly sapped away from some seeds, Hanu fell to his knees before getting back onto his feet standing on shakey legs with its body covered in scuffs and having one eye closed Hanu was forcing a smirk. Case sighed as he pulled out Hanuman's pokéball and pointed at the fire chimp "Hanu return," the small little chimp was sent back to it's pokéball after being hit with the device's red beam "You did well little buddy take a nice rest....Cinders your up! Get out there and..." As soon as Case said this his little fire tailed salamander charged onto the battle field not even letting Case finish his suggestion. Once on the battle field Cinder roared as loud as it's little voice could go sending out a small stream of flames as it did until Cinders began to glow a white light and it's roar got louder and the stream of flames got higher, once the light faded his charmander was no longer but a charmeleon stood in its place...Cinder had evolved. Case was speechless with a stupid looking grin on his face watching Cinders whose cheeks swelled up before she fired a large ball of fire from her mouth that arced over towards the Cherrim and exploded upon impact making a Flame Burst.

OOC: Ian and I had planned for my charmander to officially evolve during this gym battle I hope you don't mind.

(Nope I don't. However, you may want to compare Charmeleon and Cherrim's stats. Cherrim has the upper hand in nearly everything but Attack >:3 Even Speed.

Cherrim let out a muffled cry as the powerful Fire attack struck her full on, through a great level advantage. She fell back, badly hurt, nearly out for the count. She summoned up the last dredges of her power to fire a simultaneous Leech Seed and Magical Leaf at the Fire Lizard.

OOC: Uh I got the level advantage here my charmelon being level 32 and the gym leaders Cherrim being 20. Yea my chimchar is named Hanuman or Hanu for short, I believe Hanuman was a monkey who stole the sun or the sun god who looked like a monkey in Indian folklore.

Cinders cloaked the battle field in a heavy black smoke that sprayed out of her mouth and moved out of the way of the seeds that seemed to sap heath from other pokémon before Cinders was hit with the magical leaves causing her to roar a second time. The smoke cleared as Cinders charged at the Cherrim with flames flying from her mouth  before biting down on the Cherrim with its Fire Fangs. Though Case had a stupid grin on his face it was clear he had no control over his pokémon's actions.

(Strange. Veekun doesn't seem to register than. Oh my god someone actually studies Indian mythology! :3 *is happy* Hanuman was the son of Vayu, the god of wind. He thought the Sun was a mango and tried to pluck it. He was punished for that by having all his powers taken away, though it was returned later.)

Cherrim cried out weakly as she succumbed to the flames. Badly charred, Gardenia tutted abit before recalling her. "Rest, Cherrim. You did well." Setting aside the sphere, she now picked up her last pokeball. "Don't underestimate my Roserade!" She called out as a Roserade burst from the sphere, even as it remained in Gardenia's hand.

Its very presence seemed to make the arena light up with powder, as though from a Mothim's wing. Actually, the arena was glittering with powder. Light blue in colour, it's beauty and fragility combined into something practically hypnotic and muscle tightening, denying you movement. Even without the order, the Bouquet pokemon raised its appendages topped by roses and fired several poisonous needles at the Charmeleon.

"Cinders return." Case called out as he returned Cinders to her pokéball as Gardenia recalled her now charred Cherrim back into it's pokéball. "Sting!" Case called out to his pokémon which flew onto the field just as Gardenia's Roserade appeared on the field and fired several poisonous needles from its Bouquet hands. Sting took the whole barrage of the poisonous needles  causing him to sway slightly now covered in several purple glowing cuts all over Sting's body now being poisoned and looked like it was about to fall to the floor when Case snapped his fingers and suddenly sting vanished and reappeared in front of the Roserade looking healthier then before it was poisoned. Sting then began flying around Roserade striking a numerous times almost to fast to see and looking as if it was preforming "Acrobatics" before flying up high above the rose-handed pokémon.

(Er, don't get your Gliscor poisoned. I didn't mention it but hinted at it so as to not give away the game. The powder is Stun Spore. I hinted at it here: "Actually, the arena was glittering with powder. Light blue in colour, it's beauty and fragility combined into something practically hypnotic and muscle tightening, denying you movement." Denying movement. Muscle tightening. Paralysis? It can't get poisoned therefore. But it was my fail so... v.v')

The Gliscor agilely swooped around, tossing up Powder. Roserade smirked, easily dodging the Acrobatics. It raised it's bouquets again, firing several Magical Leaves at the dual Ground/Flying type. Moreover, it seemed to be somewhat careful in it's movements, as though with practiced grace and ease. It won't be easy to land a hit on this lithe creature.

Sting agilely swooped around, tossing up Powder, which is when Case began to notice that Sting began to slow down slightly. Roserade smirked, easily dodging the Acrobatics attack as it raised it's bouquets again, firing several Magical Leaves at him carefully as it fired. "Sting Harden!" Sting was hit in the chest by the leaves causing him to spin backwards through the air before he could harden, though the attack did less damage then Case expected leaving him a little bit relieved and gave him time to come up with a plan "Sting Quick-Attack!" Sting recovered mid air before flying off towards the Roseila "Acrobatics!" Case called out mid way Sting and as sting performed them it looked like there were now several stings coming straight for the rose handed pokémon. Once Sting was close enough to for the Roseila to dodge the Acrobatics Case flicked his hand and called out the final part of his plan "ICE FANG!!"

Roserade's pupils dilated as a rather shocked look came over it's face. The Gliscor shot forward and pulled off a STAB super effective move. Just in time the rose adorned pokemon brought up a hand, topped with a large rose to block the Acrobatics, which blew it back, far enough to dodge the Ice Fang. It looked with some consideration at it's badly damaged hand, cut with deep gashes and some sort of sap flowing from the cuts, and the rose badly chipped and slashed.

It seemed to ignite some fury in the Bouquet pokemon, and it leaped forward, with somewhat increased agility and power, fueled by fury. Anger blazing in the normally serene eyes of the composed grass type, it sprang and tried shooting a Grass Knot. Blades of grass erupted from the grassy meadow below and twined up to wrap themselves around Gliscor, effectively restraining the swift foe and depriving it of movement.

(I know Grass Knot doesn't work that way but I wanna try this out~ :3)

OOC: What you posted here makes it sound like Roserade has the growth ability like grass starts do which is doesn't

Case realised something was wrong and was confused why Sting wasn't moving when he notied the golden dust was still coating his body, suddenly blades of grass erupted from the grassy meadow below and twined up to wrap themselves around Gliscor, effectively restraining the swift foe and depriving it of movement. A few seconds later a huge sand could covered the field putting out the fire leaving the battle field merely singed.

Roserade seemed anxious and slightly impressed that her foe has managed to escape from her trap. The paralysis had taken over at exactly the right moment. Swiveling and circling her arms in round, windmill motions, she fired several Magical Leaf's, which were bound to find their target. There was no hiding from such an attack.

OOC: Sorry I was suppose to say with that quote what was it supposed to be because it looks like the Growth ability that grass starters then to have.

Case could see that the Roserade seemed anxious and slightly impressed that Sting had managed to escape from her trap as the could of sand and dust cleared when Sting took to the air again. The Roserade then began to circle her arms in round in a windmill motion as she fired several multi-coloured Magical Leaf's, which homed in on Sting as he flew through the air trying to evade the attack but there was no point, like Aura Sphere, Magical Leaf was an attack that never missed unless it was blocked by Protect, Faint or perhaps even if it was burned into ash or frozen into ice and then shattered it maybe be able to be evade but Case knew sting didn't know any ranged ice or fire attacks along. Case took a deep breath and kept a cool head "Sting fly low to the ground, towards our opponent." Sting though flying slower then normal managed to keep ahead of the leaves flying towards the Roserade while flying low to the ground but not low enough to be hit by a grass attack that could spring up from it. Just before Sting reached the Roserade "Harden! Sand Attack!" Sting suddenly stopped flying and floated in front of the Roserade causing a sand could to engulf the two of them just as Sting's body gleamed white for as the leaves made contact with him.

(Nah. Roserade has...uh, Natural Cure or something.)

The sand billowed up in thick clouds, compelling Roserade to raise a flower tipped arm to block the offending dust from entering her eyes or mouth. Letting out a small cough, she let out another Magical Leaf, not even worried that she might not be aiming it right. They had a way of homing in on the opponent. Swiveling her arms in round motions at the ground, she caused grass to leap up at her beckon and create a protective shield-like formation. Queer but innovative way of using Grass Knot. The blades were knotted intricately and were thick and wet with dew. It didn't look like cutting or slashing it was possible. It bowed only to Roserade's will. It could probably create small partitions to allow Magical Leaves to pass through. Both offensive and defensive at the same time.

OOC: Yes Roserade has Natural Cure, but Natural Cure heals any status conditions upon switching out or completing a battle (if it was in battle at the end of the battle).

As the sand billowed up in thick clouds, both pokemon being blinded from the could of sand along with their trainers or as the case would usually be. Case sat cross legged on the ground and closed his eyes as if meditating focusing on seeing the arua of those in the area around him, he sensed his pokemon stil cheering him on from the bleachers and that he couldn't sense Himeka but his attention was drawn to the Roserade that Sting was fighting as it swiveled her arms in round motions at the ground creating a sheild of sorts with grass not Grass Knot that had small partitions holes to allow attacks through. Until the sand cloud cleared he had the upper hand "Sting Acrobatics at three o'clock dont stop until you reach a solid object then use Fire Fang." Upon hearing his pokemon's cry to signel that it understood he opened his eyes to watch his plan. Sting seeming disappeared but causing the sand cloud to disapate earlier then it should due to its velocity when traveling, Sting then crashed into the Grass Knot barrier bitining down on it setting it aflame the moment he made contact "NOW KNOCK OFF!" As Case yelled his commanded Sting's claw seemed to be covered in a black lightning (as shown in anime) and slammed the flaming wall of glass into the Rosearade.

(Mhm. Also, Paralysis wears off after a while, right? If so, assume Gliscor's paralysis to end in your next post.)

The thick, entwining blades of grass, laid over by large crystals, globules of dew sizzled violently as Gliscor bit down on it with fiery fangs. Gardenia fidgeted, quickly assessing and evaluating her Roserade's strength against the foe Gliscor's. "Quick, Roserade, Grassy Terrain!" The Bouquet Pokemon raised a slender, tapering foot...and was slammed back into the wall of the Grass Knot as a whip-like shred of grass tore free, succumbing to the vicious force of Gliscor's Knock Off. Flinching, wincing, she slowly got to her feet, and decisively stamped on the ground.

The terrain immediately changed, wave upon wave of foliage radiating from Roserade, spreading out until the ground was thickly laid over with greenery. Gardenia smiled, an attempt at smugness, though inwardly she shared a sigh of relief with the gradually weakening Grass pokemon. "Try a Weather Ball!" Gardenia called out reassuringly. Immediately, as though a void pulled it aside, the Grass shield warped, opening up a spherical opening for the spherical object, a missile emerging from within. Even as the Weather Ball shot towards the Gliscor very close by, the grass began to entwine, perhaps protecting the Roserade from her almost imminent defeat...

Case smirked snickering when he saw Gardenia fidgeting as he watched Sting set her wall of whip like grass a flame calling out for her pokemon to use Grassy Terrain as he watched her flower handed raise her foot slamming back into the burning wall made from the Grass Knot as it was knocked off and back into the Roserade. Case jumped slightly off the ground watching the result of their plan seeing it had succeded While Sting flew backwards to create distance between them looking passive to their labours fruits neither of them noticing that Sting's speed had returned to normal and no longer had small yellow sparks bouncing around his body as they watched the gym leaders pokemon flinching and wincing it slowly got to her feet before it stamped decisively on the ground, immediately changing the terrain with waves of foliage radiating from the Roserade causing the ground to become thickly covered with greenery.
Case raised an eyebrow as Gardenia smiled being unable to tell if she was trying to be smug as her aura radiated her emotions telling a differenr story as is she had just had a sigh of relief "Try a Weather Ball!" Gardenia called out Case focused on the battle seeing that Sting was near his limit seeing exhaustion in his aura though Gardenia's Roserade seemed in worse condition as the du watched the Grass Knot shield opening up big enough for the spherical missile to shoot out of straight towards Sting who was still very close by even after creating a little distance as the gap in the grass sheild began to close. Case smiled "Alright Sting let's make this an all or nothing gamble!"
"Gliii~scor!"
"Dodge with Acrobaticis and pick up speed, then loop back to colide with the ball!"
Sting disappeared just before the Weather Ball would have hit grazing his tail ever slow sightly as he flew around it before preforming a loop-i-loop at a blinding speed flying back into and straight towards the normal typed weather ball (no pokemon in the past turns activated a weather condition move so it remain normal type as grassy terrian doesn't effect it according to bulbipedia) "Now open clawed Poison Jab! Bring that ball back where it came from and show them what we are made of!" Sting did as ordered catching the Weather Ball as in its purple glowling claw dripping with poision being absorbed by the ball as Sting flew straight into the shield hoping to break it with the ball and further more strike through it hitting the Roserade inside.

Gardenia smiled a genuine smug grin as the Ball exploded on the Gliscor's claw, potentially dealing large damage. If not, the several small poisonous missiles the Roserade was emitting would certainly - should - seal the deal. "Why, now then, your Gliscor looks tired there." She offered. A cool, Sweet-Scented breeze began blowing and circulating the arena. An honorable offer. Or was it?

The breeze should help the Ground/Flying relax, lowering his evasion. The Poison Stings Roserade had released were wavering and moving fluidly with the air, honing in with circular motions onto the Gliscor. Both gym leader and pokemon seemed anxious to finish the battle, as the Bouquet pokemon also released a power Magical Leaf, which glowed with renewed vigour. Not only did Grassy Terrain heal all earth-bound pokemon - like Roserade, who seemed to be glowing luminescently as some of her torn wounds closed up, all healed and disappeared - it also strengthened Grass type moves. A double-edged sword.

Case was left with his natural facial expression which people often refered to as cold hearted and firece as he saw the technipue Sting used on himself and Ace when they first met him hadn't worked this time as Gardenia had genuine smug grin on her face that her aura reflected as the Weather Ball exploded on the Gliscor's claw before he arrived at the dealing large damage along with taken more from the several small poisonous missiles that were released from the flower handed pokemon moving fluidly with the air honing onto Sting all of which hit regardless of Case calling back Sting not wanting him to over exhuast himself as in their aura he saw that both gym leader and her final pokemon seemed anxious to finish the battle. As the smoke cleared from the last attacks Case saw that the Poison Sting had actually poisioned Sting as he hung on with the last bit of health now understanding why Sting hadn't retreated when he was called slowly raising into the air with a purple glow around his body as let out a defeining cry as the poisoned seemed to be healing the pokemon instead of harming it, Case looked up grining putting Sting's pokebal back to his belt wiping his eys "ALRIGHT BUDDY AS YOU WISH BRAWL OUT TILL YOU'RE KNOCKED OUT STING!!" Case called out with cries coming from the other pokemon on his team and the ones watching in the bleachers as the gym leader's Bouquet pokemon also released a power Magical Leaf, which glowed with renewed vigour similar to Sting. Sting preformed Acrobatics to fly around the in coming magical leaf attack knowing it would just turn around to follow him knowing it would hit him eventually as it used quick attack to gain speed so it could attack before Roserade would hve time to counter his arrival and bit down on it hand with a mouth full of fangs below sub zero causing the flowers underneath to begin to freeze over and start to wilt as the magical leafs made contact on where the two pokemon where Sting not letting go of the grass type with it's freezing jaw.

Roserade had been watching the speedy part-Flying type anxiously, building up her Grassy Knotted enclosure as soon as she realized what the Fang Scorpion Pokemon was plotting. She cried out as her shoulder was bitten viciously, but she managed to tear away, shredding a bit of the sepal-like extensions of her 'hair' and the extensions of her 'cloak'. Should hopefully grow back with a little therapy.

Gardenia clenched her hands, heart beating furiously within her rib cage, pulse throbbing fiercely under her skin. This was the most exciting - and devastating - battle she'd had in a long time. "Well played, Challenger. Roserade!" She called, flinging out a hand. Roserade threw a cursory, slightly apprehensive glance at the Gym Leader - her trainer - before confirming her intentions. Lifting both flower-tipped arms - even her charred appendage - the Bouquet pokemon, frail and bending like a willow under the slight breeze kicked up by the Gliscor, squirted a large amount of corrosive acid at her opponent. The Ice Fang had taken off far too much from her, so it was a small relief, a bit of a respite, that the Venom Drench's element matched her own.

Should the burning fluid splatter upon the agile foe, it would lower two of his stats slightly, evening the battle field for all the healing it received from the status condition. Now Roserade would have to hit even harder, for all she was worth. This battle had continued and gone on for far too long, and the Grass type was exhausted. She felt a little health rejuvenate, reviving her from her momentary stupor, a slump that may well have proved her downfall. Gardenis noticed, and concern was writ large over the Gym Leader's face. Roserade could not take another hit like that, and she called out softly to her pokemon. Roserade suffered a ghost of a smile across her face before subtly moving her hand to her cloak.

It closed in on empty air. "Ro!" The Grass type called, which sounded surprisingly like 'no!'. She groped around frantically, desperately. She must have dropped...something. Something important. In fact, she was so busy searching for the thing that she lost thought of the battle completely. Fortunately Gardenia picked up swiftly and called over her pokemon. "Just a minute, challenger!" She called beseechingly before kneeling to maintain eye contact with the baleful Roserade. "I'd meant to keep this for Turtwig, but here." She spoke softly, soothingly, revealing a shiny yellow container. A Super Potion.

Roserade's cry of energy echoed and rumbled around the arena as the Potion was sprayed on. Pain lingered in the cry, for her wounds burnt, but almost immediately they closed, providing such degrees of instant energy that it left the pokemon astonished, stunned, surprised. "Go get 'em." Gardenia winked. What was that circular yellow object lying on the ground?

(PS: The amount of searching I had to do to confirm the fact that Gardenia had a Super Potion @~@)
