The Challenge: Eterna (Kyu622 + Zorua)

Leaf Storm made its mark, but alas, Apollo was not going down. The Pikachu jumped back up and looked at Trucy with fiery eyes.
"I gotcha, Apollo! Use a Quick-Attack + Thundershock combo!"
Light flashed in the gym as electricity was released from the small mouse-like Pokemon.

Grotle feebly tried to dodge the attack, but it proved to be too little, too late as the attack found its mark, causing the Grass type Pokemon to faint.

Gardenia shook her head, not quite believing she had been defeated. "It seems I have been defeated." she said. "Very well. Take your Forest badge." She handed the green badge to Trucy, and was about to turn around when she suddenly remembered that she had forgotten something. "Oh yeah, you should take this too!" she said, slightly embarrassed. "It's TM 86, or Grass Knot. Whenever you need to trip something up, this is the move to use."

"Nice job Trucy!" Kyu said, happy that his friend had won. He stepped onto the battlefield, ready for his turn to battle.

Trucy's smile widened at the badge and the TM.
"Thanks so much, Gardenia! I'll make good use of it!"
Apollo bowed in thanks to Gardenia and Grotle, as well. It was as if he was saying,
"Thank you for a great battle."
Trucy put the TM in her bag, and picked Apollo up. After feeding him a Pokemon biscuit, she sat down by the battlefield to watch Kyu's battle.
"Go, Kyu! Do your best!"

Kyu smiled and nodded at Trucy, before turning to Gardenia. "I'd like this battle to be a two-vs-two Pokemon battle, if you don't mind." Kyu said. He took a Poke Ball off of his belt and threw it, revealing Ralts. The green and white Psychic type floated off of the ground, giving Gardenia a calm and composed stare.

"Alright then. Let's battle!"
The gym leader threw a PokeBall into the air. The capsule opened, and a green light came from it, revealing the leader's next Pokemon, a Budew.
"You may go first!"

Kyu smiled. "With pleasure."
He gave Ralts a quick nod. If the Gym Leader was giving me the first move, he thought, I must use it to my advantage! "Ralts, lets start this off with a Double Team and Psyshock combo!" Kyu said. Ralts instantly split into many copies of itself until it surrounded the little Grass and Poison type. Immediately after that, each copy unleashed a wave of purple psychic energy, hoping to take out the Budew in one clean shot.

"Budew! Use Vine Whip and elevate yourself out of Psyshock's range!"
Gardenia shouted, and her Pokemon nodded. The little green bud used its Vine Whip to balance herself above the ground. She was just high enough to dodge a few Psyshocks, but the rest grazed her a little as they passed by.
"Budew! Use Absorb on Ralts!"

The attack hit, but Ralts barely moved. With a silent command from Kyu, Ralts fired another Psyshock at the airborne Budew. Immediately after that, he teleported right behind the small Grass and Poison type, striking with an Ice Punch.

Gardenia's Budew was not expecting the Ice Punch or Psyshock, and was struck by both. Ice Punch was super-effective, and Budew looked a bit tired.
"Budew! Hang in there! Use Giga Absorb + Leech Seed to restore your health!"
The little bud nodded, and launched the attack.

Seeing Gardenia's strategy, Kyu knew he would have to act quick.
"Quick Ralts, use Teleport out of the way!" he shouted.
Ralts effortlessly disappeared out of the way of the attacks. Reappearing right in front of the Budew, it attacked with another Ice Punch, hoping to knock out the Grass and Poison type and bring his victory that much closer.

The Budew and Gardenia both knew that the Ice Punch would be highly effective and give one win to the trainer, so they quickly thought of a strategy.
"Budew! Try to dodge the attack!"
The little bud nodded, and began to jump out of the way, but its foot was too slow and froze from impact.
"Tsk. I didn't think this would be easy... Budew! Try to restore your health again with Giga Absorb and Leech Seed!"

(No problem. It must be difficult to do so many topics.)

Ralts got hit with part of the Giga Drain attack, but again, not much damage was done. It quickly knocked the Leech Seed attack away with a Confusion, then looked to finish off the Gym Leader's first Pokemon with a Psyshock.

The Budew wasn't expecting a Psyshock, and since very little energy was restored, it was knocked out.
"Budew! Return! You did very well."
Gardenia sent her Pokemon back to its PokeBall and congratulated Kyu on defeating it.
"However, this next Pokemon won't be so easy!"
She tossed a PokeBall into the air, and a green light came from it. Once it reached the ground and dissipated, in its place, was a Roserade.



Roserade/ Female/ Level 15/ 8/8 Hits Remaining

Kyu blinked, and reached into his aura. He noticed that the Roserade was significantly stronger than the Budew, and was also the final evolution of the bud Pokemon. Nevertheless, Kyu was determined to win the battle.
"Ralts, start off with a Double Team + Ice Punch Combo!" Kyu commanded. Ralts complied by splitting into several copies, and each copy rushed at the Roserade with an icy fist, ready to attack.

"Roserade! Use Magical Leaf + Leech Seed!"
The gym leader commanded, and the rose-like Pokemon nodded. It jumped into the air and spun just like Apollo had done earlier, and as it spun, sharp leaves flew in all directions of the Ralts and Leech Seeds also flew here and there. There was no way that the Ralts could dodge this! Gardenia thought, and she smirked.

Ralts teleported out of the way of the Leech Seeds, but the Magical Leaf just spun around and smashed into it. Wincing in pain, it fired a Psyshock at the rose Pokemon before teleporting behind it, unleashing an Ice Punch.

The Roserade dodged the Psyshock, then turned around. It looked at Gardenia for instructions and the gym leader just smiled and looked back and forth from her Roserade to the charging Ralts. Both nodded at each other, and the Roserade used a Razor Leaf on the Ralts as if the gym leader and Pokemon were one with each other.

Ralts got hit with the Razor Leaf, taking enough damage to bring it to the brink of fainting. However, it fought on, Ice Punch ready to strike at the rose Pokemon

This last attack was a surprise to Roserade, and it landed perfectly on the Pokemon. It crashed to the ground, with one arm frozen from impact.
"Roserade! Try to get back up and use Magical Leaf again!"
The gym leader did not want to give up just yet. They were so close! The Pokemon nodded, attempting to stagger back its feet. Once it did so, it jumped up and spun to use Magical Leaf, but it wasn't as effective due to its frozen arm.

Ralts, already weakened from the previous attacks, couldn't take another one and fainted. Kyu smiled, however, knowing that with Roserade's arm being frozen, he had a slight advantage. "Good job Ralts." Kyu said, returning him to his Poke Ball. "Rest well. You deserve it."
Turning back to the battle, Kyu took out a new Poke Ball and threw it. Out popped Dwebble, whom raised its pincers in defiance. "Dwebble, use X-Scissor!" Kyu shouted. The Bug and Rock type Pokemon nodded, then swiftly scuttled over to Roserade, claws gleaming as they struck at the rose Pokemon.
