Time is but a Gentle Stream, the Past Still at its Murky Depths

The scientist screamed getting up, running out of the room setting the facility on lockdown. A thick, metal wall secured every room, Dark's operation continuing even through the lockdown. 'Administration, subject two has been spliced further,' a few people called throught eh small divice. 'Copied...'

"Great, now what!" Evangeline threw her hands into the air in frustration. Nev looked desperately around before seeing what may be their salvation. "How much do you wanna bet I can fit through that vent," the pair looked up at the small grate that covered the airvent that would contain a passage to every room.

"I think you could, but what good will it do? Wait, it's perfect! You can get out an be safe, I'll figure my own way out without having to worry about you!" Nev's ears went down but he didn't say a word.

"Yeah," he mumbled, "that's a brilliant idea. Just get me in that vent." Evangeline managed to stack up enough lab equipment to be able to stand on and reach the vent. She smashed the grate open and Nev slipped through. "I'm not leaving you!" he shouted once he was far enough in that she couldn't grab him back. "I'm gonna get us all out!"

Sighing, Evangeline slumped against a wall, unable to stop or help him. "Why am I always so helpless," she muttered, looking curiously around to see if any scientists just witnessed what occurred.

None of them were exactly conscious to see it. Though one seemed to be awake, he was really asleep.

Voices called from three of the paths in the vents. The first was talk about dates and the data collected. Another was from administrative staff talking about transferring Evangeline, and more voices talked about making Dark an obedient monster to dominate the other labs

Nev listened to the three voices, unsure of quick to follow. The piercing sound of Dark's screams interrupted his thought, and he shook his head unwillingly, having his sensitive ears hurt. "I have to get to that operation room," he said to himself, before trying to follow where he thought was the source of the pained cries.

(I can edit my post if Dark wasn't screaming, I'm assuming he's still being operated on and still yelling. If not, I'll follow one of the three voices~)

Dark's screams just got louder until they stopped completely. The ones operasting on him spoke and kept handing tools between each other, the vent leading to the room visible not too far away. Dark was attached to breathing machines and was restrained by chains so he couldn't hurt the scientists as they drew more and more blood for testing. One arm looked like his human arm, but the other was a wolf leg having been sewed on

Nev couldn't help bit gasp at the sight and hope he wasn't heard. Thinking of what to do, the only thing that crossed his mind was to incapacitate the scientists somehow. Thinking of his only option, he lifted the grate of the vent as quietly as he could and set it beside him. His checks sparked and he launched a Thunder Shock at each scientist, hoping to paralyze them.

The scientists were paralyzed, falling over but making sure the small tubes of blood were safe. Dark's expression was a bit sad, having not wanted to be spliced and the segment connecting the arm a bit yellow from the operation. They had wrapped it, so it really wasnt visible.

Jumping down into the room, Nev tugged at the chains holding Dark. "A-are you okay mister!?" he asked while trying to gnaw at them with his rodent teeth. They weren't very effective, but he was making a small bit of progress.

Dark didn't respond, turning his head on the operation bed. His left leg was uncovered, markings indicating another splicing attempt as other scients got in, caging the pokemon. 'Bad,' they said as if he was a pet, setting the cage on a table and beginning operation, removing Dark's leg.

"Your the bad ones!" he shouted at them, not being able to help himself. "I hope this lab explodes! I hope you all die!" Small tears formed in his eyes, and his thoughts became irrational. "I-I'm gonna kill all of y -you," he sobbed, "J-just like m-my dad." Rapid sobs shook his body as he savagely attacked the bars of his cage.

The scientists didn't care about the little pokemon's outbursts. After the operation and wrapping the leg so excess blood could be avoided, Dark was pushed out of the room to his own. Scientists escorted Nev to another cage in the same room before capturing Evangeline, binding her hands before binding her neck to the wall in the room.

Evangeline was sure to use even more colorful language as the scientists handled her, that is, in-between when she spat on and bit them. "Where's pretty face?" she asked, smirking at the scientists. "When I get out of this, you guys will have more than just a face to worry about." She relaxed within her bounds, knowing it would freak them out more if she wasn't struggling. "I'll give you guys a 5 second head start before things get, well, not heated up, that's for sure. She chuckled to herself.

Nev just shook in anger in his cage, the feeling of uselessness making him even more angry.

The scientists neutralized Evangekine so her abilities wouldnt work, knowing her better than she did herself. They left, and in the night Dark woke up, complaining his arm hurt as well as his leg, aski g why they itched so badly.

Evangeline slumped in her chains, knowing she was helpless. Nev eventually fell into a fitfully sleep, having wore himself out past exhaustion. Sighing, Evangeline lied down as well, losing hope of escape that day. She would try again the next.


'We improved your design', a scientist, Dark's guard, said boredly. 'Now rest your body. You need to heal quickly so we can begin using you.'

Dark mumbled before he fell asleep quietly, being shook a bit the next morning able to actually sit up. 'Who,' he mumbled, rubbing his eyes with his hand and paw.

The person shaking Dark awake was the same scientist who told him to sleep the night before. Though it would have been the perfect opportunity for Evangeline to have done so after a masterful escape, there weren't always miracles made overnight. 'Wake up,' he said, 'Our director would like to see you for himself before we transfer the female.'

Evangeline was all alone and helpless within her room. She seemed rather emotionless, and simply stood staring at the white walls around her, thousands of scenarios of escape playing through her mind and being crushed by her own logic. Strategy would get her no where, she was riding on luck and faith from this time forward. Like a game of chess, she awaited her opponent to make a wrong move before she reacted.

Dark looked at the scientist. He wouldn't go against them and get hurt, not thinking anything worse could happen. He got up, the claws on his paw below clicking on the floor as he followed the scientist.

'Right this way,' the scientist said, leading Dark through a maze of corridors and hallways. 'Your friends are rather annoying. They tried desperately to save you, and were too stupid to see that you cooperate willingly. I'll be glad to especially get rid of the girl. I hope the other lab gives her he'll before we take it over.' He stopped at a door and knocked. After hearing no reply from inside, he opened it and motioned for Dark to go inside. 'Wait in here, the Director will be here shortly.'

Dark walked into the room, standing and waiting. 'I don't want to be hurt. I just want to be safe,' he mumbled to himsekf before he saw a door opening, his ears and tail twitching.

Through the door walked the lab's director. He was a rather portly man whos hair seemed to be thinning at the top of his head. 'So it is true,' she said as he observed Dark, 'I was doubtful, but you seem to be just as they described. The perfect specimen. Do you mind if I have a closer look at you?' he asked Dark, his face beeming as if it were Christmas morning.

Dark nodded to the director, staying upright. His right arm and left leg burned slightly from the operation, but other than that he was good to go. When the director looked at his tail and ears, he twitched them showing they were real

'Simply fascinating!' the Director exclaimed, rubbing his thumb across one of Dark's ears. 'This, well, this could span a new species, you may be the next step in human evolution boy! If we can understand you, we can create superhumans. We can rule over the weak ones!' His eyes gained a delusional craze, showing a hint of the man's true personality. 'I would like you to help us, if you don't mind.' he said to Dark, 'Will you help us against those other scientists, the ones that will hurt you if they catch you. You can help us, and we will protect you.'

Dark looked at the man, rumbling a bit from the ear rub. 'Of course I'll help,' he told the man. 'I want to help.' He set his head over the man's shoulder hugging him, sniffing his neck a bit remembering his scent. I'm so tired,' he mumbled before he fell asleep. When he awoke he found himself in a comfortable bed, opening his eyes and sitting up, holding the covers with left hand as he rubbed his eyes with his paw. He realized he had a collar then, and he looked down at the black banding with a tag.

'You're finally awake,' a voice said from the corner of the room. 'The Director was not expecting you to fall asleep so quickly. We needed some assistance immediately, so we had to pull a few strings in order to wait until you have woken.' The scientist yawned and with a bored look on his face, he gave Dark his mission. 'We have decided the winged girl is a danger to what we plan. We want animal superhumans, and if they decide to make Pokemon mutants before we can figure out our own processes, it would be dire. The girl is in the room across from here, we would like you to kill her. Her Pokemon too, it offers no use to us.'

Dark looked at the scientist before he stretched. 'Yes master,' he told the scientist, walking out of the room and across the hall. He opened the door to Evangeline's room, kneeling onto four legs as if an animal and walking in.
