Second gym, Second Badge! [Open/Mod]

After exiting from Eterna forest and healing his team, Ash headed straight for the gym, Chomp at his side. He entered and looked around the place. He had no fire types but he wasn't worried, he was confident in the strength of his Pokemon.

Set almost smack bang within the middle of the large Eterna City, the gym's surroundings and structure stood out among the industrial setting. Light flooded the glass dome, leafy vines working their way around, bushes set in a ring around the roof like a natural crown. Inside, what little solid wall there was had been painted over with azure and designs of fluffy clouds, and trees towered around. Ash and Chomp had a maze to make their ways around if they wanted to face Gardenia, and unsurprisingly, gym trainers hid around trunks and corners, ready to test their mettle...

Ash sighed before he treked on, Chomp following closely behind as he looked around them to watch out for any trainers and to look at how the gym was styled. The small dragon type could've sworn he saw movement from close by and gave a light growl, warning Ash that an opponent might be nearby.

Sure enough, Chomp's instincts were correct. Popping out from behind a tree, a teenage brunette got right in their way, her long hair falling over the shoulders of her white short sleeved blouse and the buttoned up, grey waistcoat that covered it. "Hey there!" She greeted, plucking a Poke Ball from the clip attached to her pleated red miniskirt, brown plimsoles stood apart as she faced Ash head on, "You'll have to challenge my Pokemon before I'll let you explore anymore! Standard rules! Now, go, Cherubi!"

Shifting so that there was apt space between them, the petite, level 17 female took Caroline's side of the field.

"Alright, let's get 'em Chomp, start of with Sandstorm, followed by Dragon Rage!" Ash commanded. Chop nodded as he was outlined in a faint earthy glow before being surrounded by a vortex of sand. The sand moved putward until it covered the field. Afterwards he fired blue and yellow flames Cherubi's way.

"Use growth, Cherubi!" Caroline ordered, her small Pokemon swelling inside, simultaneously boosting her attack and special attack powers, "Now dodge the attack and use leech seed!" The creature struggled in the sandstorm, her sight obscured and little frame fought against, but she rolled away, spitting out a seed that aimed to wrap the dragon in an absorbing net of vine and leaf.

"Dragon rage again! Use the sandstorm as a form of cover, then launch another one!" Ash countered with a frown. Chomp used Dragon rage as the last minute to scortch the seed before charging forwardahead of him and released another dragon rage in his opponent's direction.

Cherubi was really struggling here, she was too small for such a sandstorm, the leaves and bushes pulled in the direction of the wind, branches and other small debris whipping dangerously around the gym. "Wait until he gets close enough to tackle him!" She ordered. Dragon rage only did a set amount of damage and wasn't exactly a fire attack. Pushing through the assault with a little cry of pain, the Cherubi tackled the dragon, "Now, latch on and use your leech seed!"

"Sand attack as she comes at you! Then a tackle of your own!" Ash said soon after. Chomp kicked up whatever sand in front of him that was at his feet, hoping to hit Cherubi in the eyes before he got hit by the tackle, earning a grunt from the small dragon type. He then proceeded to try and throw her off, if this succeded then Chomp would attempt to tackle Cherubi, even though leech seed would begin to effect him.

It was true that leech seed was beginning to eat slowly away at Gabite's health, the numerous vines hindering its movement in addition to this. It was easy to get tangled up, and the throbbing pains of absorbed health couldn't possibly be helping. Cherubi cried out again as more sand obscured her vision, a tackle attack further offsetting her balance. "Morning sun!" Caroline called. Cherubi was enveloped in an aura, and soon, the strength of the sun's rays were intensified through the glass windows. What Cherubi was lacking in battle power, she was surely making up for in endurance. If Ash wasn't careful, Gabite would be taken out while the grass-type repeatedly recovered herself, even if the sandstorm was chipping away, too.

"Return!" Ash growled as he unclipped Chomp's pokeball and returned him. He then threw another, and with a beam of white light appeared Silver. The Weavile narrowed his eyes at his opponents as he awaited commands.

"Shadow Ball." Ash requested. Silver nodded before forming a purple and black sphere of dark type energy and attempting to launch at Cherubi.

Cherubi was still healing, although the process was hindered by the Pokemon switch that Ash had made. "Dodge, Cherubi!" Caroline called, but it was too late, and the poor sapling went reeling backwards through the field. "Use leech seed again, then tackle it!" She added, although felt wary of Weavile's knife-like claws. That could be a serious problem for them.

"Feint Attack." Ash countered. The energy sapping seed would latch itself onto Silver and do it's job. Then, the ice and dark type would be outlined in dark type energy and dash foreward at his top speed before appearing behind Cherubi and attempting to slash at her.

Caroline cheered as leech seed latched on, having expected Weavile to cut it to pieces before it could. However, her face fell as she saw the enemy's strategy, "Look out, Cherubi! Behind you!" It wasn't warned in time, and the grass-type wailed as her soft skin was cut into. She knew that there wasn't a lot of health left in her, especially with the raging sandstorm, which was now picking away at Ash's substitute as well, "Hurry, tackle it, Cherubi!"

Silver grunted as the small round body slammed into him. He began to pant slightly before growling and glaring at the grass type.

"Icy Wind, then Feint attack again." Ash frowned. Even though Silver still had some fight on him, the sandstorm plus leech seed were slowly sapping his health away. But, he noticed that the sandstorm was starting to weaken ever so slightly.

Silver quickly unleashed a cold, frosty breath that created a blue tinted wind that was launched at Cherubi, before he attempted another Feint Attack, ignoring the annoying leech seed attached to his fur.

If anything, that was the strategy Ash should have started with. Silver was weakening, but Cherubi was out for the count. The icy wind froze some of the raging sand, adding further to the super-effective hit, and feint attack just sealed any possible uncertainty. "Cherubi!" Caroline gasped, looking horrified. Her little pink friend was unconscious in the field, and sadly, the trainer returned her. Gible and Weavile earned eight experience points each! "Go, Roselia! Finish it!" She threw in her final monster, another female at level fifteen.

"Icy wind, then Shadow ball." Ashe said, narrowing his eyes. He'd have to heal Silver and Chomp if they beat her and were able to continue. Silver nodded and quickly complied. His muscles ached but he ignored it and focused on the adrenaline rushing through his body at that very moment.

Once again, the temperature began to drop, ice piercing through the weather condition in place. "Dodge, then use growth, Roselia!" Caroline ordered. Barely, the Pokemon was able to dodge shadow ball, but the grass-type was still nicked by stray shards of freezing wind. Powering herself up, increasing in size too, Roselia was commanded next to use stun spore, aiming paralyzing gold dust through the sandy wind.

"Icy wind again! Then use Ice Shard!" Ash called out with a frown. Silver nodded before using both moves, hoping to damage Roselia at least somewhat.

Weavile's speed had been cut heavily by the stun spore, but that didn't stop Roselia from getting hit by the super-effective strikes. It was the icy wind that caught her up, allowing the ice shard to follow suit, making its way into her rose hands and the leaves that made up her odd feet. "Use mega drain, Roselia!" Caroline ordered, trying to make up for the serious health loss.

"Feint attack, followed by another Ice shard, quick!" Ash countered, eyes narrowed and teeth clenched. Silver nodded and performed Feint attack first. Although it wasn't as fast as before, it was still pretty fast. But, instead of reappearing behind the Roselia like one would expect, he reappeared on her side, slashing at her before attempting to use another Ice shard. This all determined wether or not he'd be able to win or not.

Some of the petals from her rose came loose as she was draining health from Silver, a move that wasn't very effective and wouldn't outdo the Weavile's ice shard at such close contact. "Roselia!" Caroline cried, watching her Pokemon take the deciding hit, falling onto the grass turf of the same-element gym. "Return..." The brunette sighed, fishing into the pocket of her vest for a small purse. Silver rose to level eighteen! "Here, some prize money for you." She gave him $272 for his trouble. "But don't think I'm the only one waiting to take you out before Gardenia!"

Ash thanked her for the battle and received the money before stooping down to Silver's eye level to see if he was alright. He returned Silver for some rest. He turned and left the gym. He needed to heal his team and he might look for a fire type along the wa, after that he'd come back and challenge the gym again.....

Ash walked into the Pokemon center, noticing a very familiar woman talking with the nurse at the front desk.

"Mom? What are you doing here?" the boy questioned in confusion as he walked up to the desk. His mother's face lit up in both surprise and happiness as she turned to him.

"You came just in time! I have this egg and I won't be able to take care of it....will you take care of it, Ash?" she asked with a smile. He seemed surprised and after a moment, nodded.

After she handed him the egg and he carefully put it in his pack he turned to the nurse and asked; "Could you heal these two, please?" while holding up both Silver and Chomp's pokeballs.

The egg handed to Ash was bright pink and patterned with stars, the shell of it appearing to shine and shimmer whenever it caught the light. "That's a beautiful Pokemon egg you have there!" Nurse Joy remarked, taking the Poke Balls with a nod, setting them in the machine behind the desk, which a Chansey watched over, "Do you have an incubator to carry it in? You don't want it to get damaged."

"No, I don't have an incubator...." Ash replied. He looked to his mother who only shook her head with a light frown, indicating that she didn't have an incubator he could use.
