Second gym, Second Badge! [Open/Mod]

Nurse Joy happily took Ash's Pokemon for him to heal them, small images of each one flashing up on the blue screen behind her as the machine worked its magic. As he was stood, though, he would begin to feel a strong rocking in his bag. If he were to take the incubator out, Ash would see that his egg was hatching, and from inside burst forth a tiny, female Slugma! What luck!

Ash took the Slugma out of the incubator.

"Hey there little one. Welcome to the outside world." He said with a small smile. He was surprised at the coincidence of a Slugma being hatched from the egg. He scanned her with his Pokedex to see her information.

' She's so small...' he thought, his smile still in place.

The Slugma made a low but light drone in reply, peering up at Ash in puzzlement. This place was bright and confusing, but she recognised his voice right away. He had to be very careful, though-- her body temperature was already hot, and it was only going to move extremely high. If he didn't want to burn himself, he would need be careful, especially as a baby might struggle to control itself. The Chansey behind the desk seemed happy at the sight, and Nurse Joy was, too.

"Oh, wow! Congratulations!" The nurse cooed, "Are you going to name her?"

"Yeah. I'll name her Alva." He said thoughtfully. He glanced at the baby fire type. He found her adorable and knew he'd burn himself if he wasn't careful around her. He glanced back to Nurse Joy and Chansey, listening to the machine behind them run with a low hum.

"That's a lovely name. Make sure to get her a Poke Ball before she wanders away!" The nurse joked lovingly, giggling sweetly. When the machine came to a stop, she handed the three Poke Balls back to their owner, "Have a good day, and congratulations again!"

"Thank you. You have a good day too." He smiled as he took the Pokeballs then held an empty one out for Alva.

"Might as well ask you this now, even though you're a baby that just hatched. Would you rather be in a Pokeball or stay out of one, Alva?" Ash asked with a gentle smile.

Making another gurgle, Alva looked questioningly at the Poke Ball. She could see her reflection in the shell, which was quite frankly confusing. Did it have something in it? Did she look like that? The world was a weird place. "Sluu...?" She drawled. It didn't really make much of a difference to her, given that she didn't understand how one worked, but Slugma were slow and she was new to literally everything. A ball was probably the safest move, especially as it would prevent anyone from stealing Alva.

"Here." He gently pressed the Pokeball against her head, watching her be sucked inside. He waited patiently to see the outcome. He wanted Alva to be able to experience being inside a Pokeball and if she wanted to stay in one or not.

The ball rocked three times, but not with force, the centre button flashing a slow red to confirm Alva's settlement into the sphere. Outside the Centre, it was cold and fairly quiet considering. It was the middle of the afternoon, and there was plenty of time to get some training and other things done even after the gym battle's sour conclusion for Ash.

Ash smiled and thanked Nurse Joy once more before leaving the Pokécenter and heading for the Pokemart to see what they had in stock. He walked into the warm, blue roofed building, noticing a couple other trainers and civilians. After going to the counter and making his purchases he went to Eterna forest and released Chomps and Piplup.

"Alright guys- Piplup, what are you doing?" The boy sighed as Piplup began to wander off. She went into the tall grass; Ash and Chomps following behind her.

Piplup had wandered into the long grass alone, and it was no surprise why when Ash followed him to his destination. He had his head buried into an abandoned pouch stuffed full of berries, rare candies and even a candy cane! He must have smelled the food and decided to wolf down what it could get its greedy flippers on!

"Wonder who left this behind?" Ash wondered aloud as he watched the small water type eat what was in the pouch. Chomps hesitantly walked over to her to peek inside before taking the candy cane and what looked to be two rare candies. Ash kneeled down to try and get a look inside before Piplup attempted to eat everything.

' I should probably stop her from eating all of it. ' he thought as he looked at the water type.
