Second gym, Second Badge! [Open/Mod]

The woman frowned, humming thoughtfully with a finger pressed to her cheek, "Well, you certainly shouldn't risk the health of your egg like that." She said, looking down at her round assistant, "Chansey, go and see if we have one spare that this young man could use." Nurse Joy requested, and the Pokemon chimed, waddling quickly into the back to do so. Meanwhile, the healing machine rumbled away, the Poke Balls flashing in their slots. "If we do, you could always borrow it, and send it back once the egg has hatched!"

"Thank you, Nurse Joy." Ash smiled. His mother then gave him a gentle squeeze before taking her leave. Ash watched as the machine do its thing behind the desk, waiting for Chansey to return.

After a few minutes, Chansey did come back with an incubator in hand, which Nurse Joy set on the desk. "There you go. Try to find a small cushion or blanket to go inside, too. The incubator will keep the egg warm and safe when you're travelling around. Things can get unsteady, after all." She pointed out, taking the Poke Balls from the machine when a little jingle played, "And here are your Pokemon. Take care now!"

"Thanks again Nurse Joy." Ash smiled as he turned, incubator in hand and went to one of the tables in the lounging area. There he set the incubator on the table top and set his blanket inside, then the egg. After putting the egg back in his backpack he headed for the gym again. He was determined to get the second badge!

Apon entering with Silver at his side, Ash took the same route as before. Both trainer and Pokemon stayed tense as they trudged on carefully, in case they saw any movement. All was quiet, and it made the two partners even more wary.

[color=hotpink]Ash made it far into the maze before another gym trainer stopped him in his tracks: the final obstacle before the pink doors, and beyond them, Gardenia. This one was not a girl but a woman, formally dressed in a long sleeved white blouse that was tucked into a long, verdant skirt. "Hold on, young man." She said, expanding the first of two Poke Balls, from which a level seventeen, female Budew was released, "You'll have to fight me if you want to progress any further. Are you ready?"]/color]

"Let's go Silver! Start off with Shadow Ball, followed by Icy Wind!" Ash commanded. Silver nodded before sending a sphere of dark type energy then a blast of icy cold wind Buwdew's way.

"Dodge and then growth, Budew! Endure the cold!" The trainer called, the baby jumping out of the way of the ghostly sphere. It then closed its bud, bracing itself for the second attack, all the while swelling in size to boost the attack and special attack stats, "Now, use stun spore!" With that, a sudden burst of paralyzing gold dust was sprayed at the Weavile.

"Use Feint Attack to dodge! Then follow up with Ice Shard." Ash countered. Silver was then outlined in dark type energy, he dashed foreward and disappeared. He reappeared behind his opponent and attempted to slash Budew's back then attempted a point blank ice shard.

With its odd body shape and stubbly legs, speed was not something Budew was great with, and she wailed as Sneasal cut into her body, ice weathering through into the grass-type and sending shivers and a freezing sort of burn through her system. "Counter with mega drain!" The challenger ordered, Budew attempting to sap Sneasal hard of its energy.

"Furry Swipes then Shadow Ball!" Ash ordered. Silver grunted as a chunk of his energy was sapped away. He fired a Shadow ball in her direction then made to swipe at her with his sharp claws.

"Dodge, Budew!" The trainer shouted, but that was easier said than done. Budew hadn't recovered too much from the Sneasal, and she was still in rather a lot of shock from the freezing, close-proximity shot from before. Budew managed to dodge the shadow ball, which went flying through the brush, but as a result caught the wrath of fury swipes. "Push it away with water sport, then use mega drain again!"

Silver frowned as Water Sport pushed him away and growled. Another chunk of his energy was sapped away from Mega Drain, but he remained calm.

"Feint Attack, then Icy Wind." Ash ordered. Silver was once again outlined in dark type energy and dashed foreward as fast as he could, disappearing then reappearing to his opponent's aide, slashing at her then releasing a breath of ice cold wind.

Slowly but surely, things were looking up for the gym trainer, and Budew was the first of her two Pokemon. The creature's health was steadily climbing back up, although feint attack and icy wind brought it all crumbling back down. "No, Budew!" Agnes cried, seeing the swirling silver-blue crystals envelop the already-injured Budew. Fainted and in a block of ice, Budew dropped onto the grass. Weavile rose to level nineteen!

"Oh, Budew. You did well, but take a rest, I'm sorry..." Agnes sighed, swapping her out for the last of her team, "Turtwig! Finish this Weavile!" She demanded, the level seventeen female emerging onto the grass. This Pokemon was going to be even slower than Budew, lucky for Ash, but it was going to be stronger. Would he make it to the showdown for his badge?

"Keep your distance for now. Use Shadow Ball and Ice Shard." Ash hummed calmly. Silver nodded, forming a sphere of dark type wnergy and throwing it Turtwig's way then releasing sharp shards of hard ice her way soon after. It was obvious that Silver was Ash's power house out of his team, but the young boy was going to train his team after this experience for sure.

"Dodge and withdraw!" Agnes commanded, and her Turtwig easily evaded the shadow ball, retracting head and limbs back into her shell to avoid whatever bits of the ice shard came her way. It still hurt a bit where the ice struck, but ultimately, Turtwig was unscated and also with boosted defense! "Now, use razor leaf and absorb!"

"Shadow Ball then Icy wind." Ash countered. Silver threw the dark sphere of energy, followed by a breath if ice cold wind. Some of the razor sharp leaves heading in his direction never made it, having been stopped by Shadow ball. Although some still landed small cuts to the Weavile.

If one looked closely, they could see tiny bits of ice form on part of the Shadow ball, although you had to look closely to see them. Another, much smaller chunk of the Ice and Dark type's energy was drained. Even so, he still had some fight in him.

"Roll away!" Turtwig remained in his bulky hideout, trying to evade both attacks. She was slow and clumsy, the ghost ball grazing her shell, but that didn't help with the icy wind which frosted over the battlefield. Some of the water and ice weathered her shell and got through the nooks and crannies, causing discomfort and damage, making things difficult. "Use absorb again!" Agnes said, the Pokemon awkwardly emerging to carry out the attack. Unfortunately, Silver was causing more damage than Turtwig could recover even with a successful hit.

"Feimt attack, then Furry swipes." Ash ordered. Silver was then,outlined in dark type energy as he dashed foreward and disappeared, reappearing on Turtwig's side and attempting to slash at her multiple times.

"Be careful!" Agnes called, but the Pokemon's slowness was no match for such speedy moves. Hit on one side, Turtwig withdrew back into her shell, the fury swipes picked away four times in succession! "Use tackle, then absorb!" The trainer was going to drag this out as long as she could, in the hopes of draining Silver down. But how much longer was Turtwig going to last on the defensive and recovery?

Silver snarled as Turtwig's body slammed into him, then absorbed a small chunk of his energy.

"Grab her! Then Icy Wind!" Ash ordered quickly, a plan to have the odds turn in their favor coming up. Silver gave a short, stiff nod before lurching forward. As he did so, he would attempt to wrap his claws firmly around Turtwig's shell, then release a baby blue tinted breath of freezing temperature onto the battle field.

"Turtwig, try to tackle it off!" Agnes ordered. The Pokemon struck Weavile with a tackle, but that didn't stop Silver from latching onto the shell. The trainer squealed in horror as the enemy breathed out an icy wind, which whirred through the shell and the nature surrounding them. When Turtwig finished her withdraw... It was revealed she was knocked out, and Ash had ultimately won the battle! The trainer grumbled, Agnes returning the last of her team, and offering $608 prize money as consolation. Silver was now level 20!

Silver panted lightly, though it wasn't to much to worry too much about. The two continued on for their battle with Gardenia, knowing that it wasn't going to be a walk in the park and only get harder the more they succeded.

As expected, Gardenia was waiting up through the last door, where a flower garden served as the arena, surrounded by trees and bushes. She was a fairly tall and thin woman, with curves all in the right places. Midriff on show between orange cargo shorts and a black tube top layered beneath a forest green cloak, Gardenia was the picture of nature, coolness and adventure. Her orange-brown hair was short and kept back from her forehead by a black sweatband, confident eyes the same shade as her cropped locks.

"So, you must be the challenger wiping out my trainers with your Weavile! I'm Gardenia, and I'll be battling you with three Pokemon! Ready for a challenge?"

"We're always ready for a challenge. Be careful, Silver." Ash replied. Silver snarled, teeth bared and claws at the ready as the two waited for their first opponent. Ash studied Gardenia calmly, wondering what her Pokemon were.

"Well, that's good to know, 'cause I'm gonna give you one! Go, Turtwig!" Gardenia released a Pokemon that was bound to be familiar to Ash, but this one was male and on equal footing with the Weavile at a strong level twenty. "Use tackle and razor leaf!" The gym leader ordered, her own Turtwig faster and stronger than Agnes' would be. Silver was already starting with lower health and energy. It would need to be careful indeed.
